Happy to share our new paper, “DnaK1-mediated regulation of phototactic motility in Synechococcus elongatus UTEX 3055,” published in mLife.
We identify the molecular chaperone DnaK1 as an important regulator of movement toward light. DnaK1 interacts with the phototaxis regulator PixG and the motor protein PilB, and its loss impairs phototactic motility. These findings support a proposed model in which DnaK1 helps assemble or stabilize the protein complexes involved in this movement.
Congratulations to Shang-Yu Li and all our co-authors!
